Youth Enrichments

YMCA Art programs are excellent opportunities for youth to gain exposure to a significant aspect of our culture. Through the arts, participants experience activities that foster self-expression and build self-esteem, develop imagination, critical thinking, and valuable social skills. Arts programs create a better understanding of the various cultures and backgrounds that make up our community and help foster uplifting relationships.

Classes offered are Mini Monets, Artist Creations, Amazing Artist, Amazing Brushes, Sculpting, Learn to Draw, Directed Drawing, and Kids Art Class.

Release your inner chef in our cooking classes or take charge of your health with our nutrition classes and services. Our recreational hands-on cooking classes and workshops offer delicious, locally inspired, healthy food in a social environment. Not only will you walk away with delicious food, but you will walk away with cooking skills as we focus on technique. Nutrition is at the heart of a healthy lifestyle. It affects our energy, our stress, the impact of exercise and our ability to think clearly.

Classes offered are Chefs in Training, Baking, and Kids in the Kitchen.

At the YMCA of Central Texas, we focus on emphasizing discipline, mental attitude, goal setting and respect in every youth martial arts class. All martial arts classes are grouped by age and skill level. Martial arts classes begin and end with warm-ups, stretching, and meditation. Participants learn beginning skills for striking, blocking, and movement in addition to proper falling techniques and practical self-defense techniques.

The YMCA is helping all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. At more than 1,000 YMCA sites nationwide, youth are engaged in year-round STEAM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed. Through programs such as our Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) Program, we are able to help develop the youth in our community to reach their full potential!

Classes offered are STEAM and Advanced STEAM.
