The YMCA of Central Texas is committed to making quality programs and facilities available to people from every social and cultural background.
The YMCA of Central Texas provides childcare, summer camps, afterschool programs, and much more for the school districts in our community.
The mission of the Y is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Our focus is on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. And our values are caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.
The Y strives to make each child’s day a magical experience – explore, discover, create new friendships, and try new activities along with the traditional favorites. We provide a safe, nurturing environment for all children by promoting healthy character development of spirit, mind, and body. We work collaboratively with families, communities, and school districts to ensure that each child receives a consistent set of life skills for success. To meet these goals, our program incorporates the Y’s Core Values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility & Faith) and the 40 Developmental Assets set forth by the Search Institute and the experiential learning model.
Program Staff
Each of our Y staff is carefully chosen to be positive role models and caring individuals. Every staff working in our program will attend training seminars which include topics such as leadership skills, positive discipline, creating excitement, learning new games, health & safety, CPR & First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention as well as many others. Our staff is the key to success and to your child’s happiness.
Notably, Texas Health and Human Services licenses Y Afterschool and Preschool at the Y. All employees are subject to criminal background checks and drug/alcohol testing. All employees are CPR/First Aid certified and are required to meet Texas Health and Human Services’ Minimum Standards.
The Y provides financial assistance to families in need who cannot afford to participate in Y programs due to financial constraints. Contact the Licensed Child Care Services Desk (512-615-7820) for more information on the application process.
